This study investigates the image of casual shirts according to color combination, tone, and interval of checked pattern in tone-in-tone coloration. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 24 color pictures, in which color combination (RY: Red+ Yellow, BP: Blue+Purple), tone (light, dull, dark), and interval (0.5cm, 1.5cm, 3.5cm, and 5.5cm) were manipulated. The 7-point scale was used for evaluation of image. Data were obtained from 240 female college students living in Seoul, Gwangju, Jinju, and Changwon in April 2010. For data analysis, ANOVA and Duncan-test were used by using SPSS program. The results of this study are as follows. Image according to color combination, tone, and interval of checked pattern consisted of five dimensions of attractiveness, youth- activity, appeal, modesty, and freshness. The cover combination showed an independent effect on freshness. Tone showed an independent effect on attractiveness, youth-activity, appeal, and modesty. Interval showed an independent effect on appeal, modesty, and freshness. Interaction effects of color combination and tone on youth-activity and appeal were found. In addition, interaction effects of tone and interval on attractiveness, youth-activity, and freshness were also found.

This study investigates the effects of social media`s fashion advertisements. A survey was taken among men and women in their twenties who had experiences with fashion brand social media. A total of 270 questionnaires were used in this analysis. The results are as follows: First, the factors of content and pursuit of information had positive (+) impacts on advertisement attitude for both men and women in the fashion brand communities. Only the pursuit of information had positive (+) effects on men`s brand attitude; however, economy, self-satisfaction, and the pursuit of information influenced women`s brand attitude and purchase intention. Secondly, in fashion brand video UCCs, pursuit of information and the formation of relationships had positive (+) impacts on men and women, respectively. The formation of relationships had positive (+) impacts on men`s brand attitude; however, the formation of relationships and the pursuit of information influenced women`s brand attitude. The pursuit of information and formation of relationships had a positive (+) influences on men`s and women`s purchase intention, respectively. Men had differences in the pursuit of information and advertisement attitude in the two types of fashion brand communities and video UCCs; however, women had differences in economy and self-satisfaction, advertisement attitude, and brand attitude in the two types. The study results provide basic data by examining men and women in their twenties who have easy access to the Internet for advertisement attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention in social media as an online fashion advertising media as well as useful information for establishing marketing strategies.

This study investigated service quality perception, purchase satisfaction, recommendation intention, and switching intention of fashion consumers according to the types of internet shopping malls. The survey was conducted from February 7 to 21 in 2011, and 294 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis. The result of the service quality perception of internet fashion consumers was classified by site characteristics, reliability, enjoyment, product diversity, responsibility, security, and order convenience. There were significant differences in the site characteristics, reliability, enjoyment, responsibility, and security of service quality perception by the types of internet shopping malls. In addition, the factors of service quality perception that could affect the purchase satisfaction of fashion consumers showed differently according to the types of internet shopping malls. The purchase satisfaction of fashion consumers influenced the recommendation intention in all types of internet shopping malls and the purchase satisfaction influenced the switching intention in fashion specialized internet shopping malls.

This study identified the present state of store and selection criteria of supplier from the regional fashion buyer point of view and examined the effects of the factors of relative impact between buyer and supplier on the relational bond. The interviews and questionnaires were administered to the owners or the sellers of 85 fashion retail stores in Gwangju. For analysis of data, frequency, means, factor analysis, Cronbach`s α and regression analysis were applied. The results were as follows. First, in the results of examining the actual conditions of store managers for fashion buyers, fashion buyers complained about lengthy travelling and time consumption inconvenience. They also reported decrease in margin and monthly mean sales over last year. Second, the most important selection the criteria for the supplier were product power, followed by a convenient store layout. Finally, higher quality communication, more compromises, and higher dependence were affected with higher satisfaction, trust, and commitment in suppliers; conversely, the trust and commitment of the buyers decreased relative to the increased power of the suppliers.

This research examines shopping motives, information search of e-fashion consumers and their behavioral intentions (word of mouth, repurchase and site switching intentions). The survey was conducted from December 17th 2010 to January 5th 2011 and all respondents had previous experiences with on-line purchase of fashion items. The study finds that an information search has three dimensions, recreational search, informative search, and rational search. The effects of both hedonic and utilitarian shopping motives on information search and behavioral intentions are significant. In addition, recreational and informative search have a positive impact on word of mouth and site switching intentions, while repurchase intention is influenced by an informative search. Rational search has a positive effect on switching intention only. Finally, there are significant differences by gender in shopping motives, information search and behavioral intentions.

This research proposes a pattern design method for 24 pleated skirts in order to develop an automatic draft program for pleated skirts that will enhance fit and enable mass production. The research method and results are outlined as follow. 1. Three-dimensional body measurements were conducted on 30 randomly selected women in their 20s. By using 34 body measurement items and 6 types of calculations among the items, the items required in the designing of an original pleated skirt were extracted. They were then interpreted through correlation analysis, variance analysis, a t-test, linear regression analysis and multiple regression analysis. 2. An extra amount was added to the waist measurement and external capsule measurement according to the number of times the pleats coincided and the thickness of the fabric by the degree of polymerization of the horizontal cross section (the test of this research: 0.518mm). The extra amount of waist measurement was 3.6cm while the hip measurement was 4.3cm larger than the hip measurement combined with the external capsule measurement and the extra amount. 3. Based on the ±standard deviation/2 as the average of the difference between the external capsule measurement and waist measurement, the subjects were classified into 3 somatotypes. Somatotype 1 presented an average total length of waist darts of 23.6cm while that of somatotype 2 was 26.2cm and that of somatotype 3 was 30.2cm. It has been confirmed that there is a significant difference among somatotypes in the total length of waist darts from the front center to the front side and the total length of waist darts from the side to the back center in terms of the average amount of waist darts for every 12 parts on the WL.

This study develops Korean Style Loungewear as a cultural fashion product. Through the use of surveys, Korean sentiments about Korean traditional clothing and Korean style fashion have been examined. The survey was conducted for 5,000 people in Korea; 3,500 responses of meaningful data were statistically analyzed. The data was processed by a SAS system; frequency and percentage were performed. It was found that Korean people have a high preference for Korean traditional clothing; however, they are not satisfied with its comfort, maintenance, or price. They answered that they would wear Korean style fashion if the design, comfort, and price were improved. They responded positively on the development of Korean Style Loungewear and its effectiveness as a cultural product. Based on the survey and basic geometric structures of Korean traditional costumes, silhouette designs of Loungewear have been developed. The designs are divided into one-piece styles and two-piece styles. The characteristic design details are git (Korean neckline) and goreum (Korean tie ribbon). The results have been shown on the "Han Style Fashion Show" by Jeonju City and exhibited in the "Seoul Living Design Fair" and the "International Art & Craft Trend Fair" in COEX, Seoul.

An importance of design that considers the characteristics of fashion that plays a role of a medium that communicates with customers (and is not simply clothes or products by adding the particular culture factors of a local country to the development of glocalism) is discussed. While the cultural consumption becomes a core key word, the survey of customers is conducted to develop a party-wear design that applies a Korean image suitable for the party culture industry magnified by the young generation`s cultural trends. Based on it, we suggest a party-wear design that applies Dancheong`s lotus and derive the followed results. The first, one-piece and accessory coordination was the highest by 49.3% for the party-wear coordination and design. In addition, Dancheong was the highest by 16.5% for the traditional pattern (thought to be representative for Korean image). Among the traditional patterns, for a pattern suitable for party-wear, the case applying flowers such as the Japanese apricot flower, lotus flower, and peony was the highest. The second, among the several patterns used Dancheong that was represented by a Korean image of a lotus flower pattern because of the characteristics of strong vitality and blooming in dirty mud was often used for the pattern of clothes. The third, under the motive of the results of the survey and Dancheong`s lotus flower pattern, we developed 2 methods of one piece and accessory coordination, 2 methods of top and skirt coordination, and 1 method of jacket and one piece coordination as the party-wear.

This study examines the effect of the structure of Intarsia and Jacquard knit on mechanical properties of knit fabrics to suggest data for knit design. Intarsia and 7 types of Color Jacquard (Floating Jacquard, Normal Jacquard, Bird`s eye Jacquard, Tubular Jacquard, Ladder`s back Jacquard, Blister Jacquard, and Transfer Jacquard) were used. The samples with a gauge of 14 were knitted using 100% wool 2/48`s yarn by Shima Seiki SIG computer knitting machine. The Objective Hand was measured by KES-FB system and HV and THV were calculated by the formula of KN-402-KT and KN-301-winter respectively. The results showed that Intarsia and Floating Jacquard are thin, flexible and light, Bird`s eye Jacquard is slick, flat and slim, Tubular Jacquard is stiff and undrapable, Ladder`s back Jacquard is difficult in shearing deformation and relatively bulky, Blister Jacquard is thickest and transfer jacquard is uneven in surface contour. The selection of proper structure is important for the knit apparel production since the thickness and weight of knit determine the amount of yarn needed and consequently the production cost. The hands of Ladder`s back Jacquard and Tubular Jacquard are superior to those of other structures. Intarsia and Floating Jacquard which are thin, light and flexible seem to be good structures for designs showing a body silhouette whereas, Bird`s eye Jacquard, Tubular Jacquard and Blister Jacquard (which are thick, heavy, and stiff) are suitable for a boxy silhouette.

Kenaf fiber can be obtained by decortications of the kenaf plant stem. The properties of the kenaf fiber treated by alkali (NaOH) were investigated by spectrocolorimeter, SEM, X-ray diffractometer, FT-IR and TGA. The kenaf fibers treated by alkali became darker and their Munsell color values changed from Y (yellow) to YR (yellowred) according to an increased NaOH concentration. SEM observation of the kenaf fibers showed that their crimps were developed and their surfaces were cleaned by the removal of protruding ends and impurities after alkali treatments. In the x-ray diffraction analysis, the structures of the fibers were found in the form of cellulose I when treated with a 0-16% alkali concentration and cellulose II when treated with over 20%. It was also confirmed that the crystallinity was lowered according to an increased NaOH concentration. The change of fiber compositions was investigated in FT-IR analysis. Strong band of 1,738cm-1 and asymmetrical stretching strong bands of 1,630-1,600cm-1 in spectrum (which represent pectin) were not found in the samples because the pectin was removed by the alkali treatment. Weak bands of 1,728-1,730cm-1 and peaks of 1,245-1,259cm-1 (which represent hemicellulose) and peaks of 1,592cm-1, 1,504cm-1, 1,462cm-1 and 1,429cm-1 (which are related to lignin) were not found or reduced in the samples treated with a concentration over 20%. TGA indicated that the kenaf fiber had the better hydrophilic properties by alkali treatment. The higher Tmax in TGA and the higher thermal stability when treated by alkali with the higher concentration. The fibers treated with an alkali concentration over 30% did not show any changes in Tmax.
