The impact of two-step treatment on the mechanical properties of the 6061 Al alloy was investigated by testing the hardness and electrical conductance values. After two-step aging treatment, the hardness and electrical conductivity of the alloy was increased, and if the first aging treatment temperature was lower than the secondary aging treatment temperature, both the hardness and the electrical conductivity were not increased. The higher the temperature of the first aging treatment, the higher the hardness. The temperature of the first aging treatment is 175℃, 150℃, 120℃, and the second is 175℃ and 120℃.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of thermo-mechanical treatment on the tensile properties of Fe-20Mn-12Cr-3Ni-3Si alloy with deformation induced martensite transformation. α' and ε-martensite, dislocation, stacking fault were formed, and grain size was refined by thermo-mechanical treatment. With the increasing cycle number of thermo-mechanical treatment, volume fraction of ε and α'-martensite, dislocation, stacking fault were increased, and grain size decreased. In 5-cycle number thermo-mechanical treated specimens, more than 10% of the volume fraction of ε-martensite and less than 3% of the volume fraction of α'-martensite were attained. Tensile strength was increased and elongation was decreased with the increasing cycle number of thermo-mechanical treatment. Tensile properties of thermo-mechanical treated alloy with deformation induced martensite transformation was affected to formation of martensite by thermo-mechanical treatment, but was large affected to increasing of dislocation and grain refining.

α-titanium alloy has a relatively low heat treatment characteristic and it is mainly subjected to heat treatment for residual stress, recovery or dynamic recrystallization. In this study, commercially pure titanium hollow castings was fabricated by gravity casting. Heat treatments were carried out at 750℃, 850℃ and 950℃ to investigate the effect of post-heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties. Beta-transus temperature (Tβ) was about 913℃, and equiaxed microstructure was shown at temperature below Tβ and lath-type microstructure at temperature above Tβ. Microstructure and mechanical properties did not show any significant difference in the direction of solidification for titanium hollow billet, so it can be seen that it was a well-made material for extrusion process. The optimum heat treatment condition of hollow billet castings for the seamless tube production was 850℃, 4 hr, FC, indicating a combination of equiaxed microstructure and appropriate mechanical properties.

Zn2SnO4 thin films were deposited on quartzs substrates by using radio-frequency magnetron sputtering system. Thermal treatments at various temperatures were performed to evaluate the effect of annealing temperatures on the properties of Zn2SnO4 thin films. Surface morphologies were examined by using field emission-scanning electron microscopy and showed that sizes of grains were slightly increased and grain boundaries were clear with increasing annealing temperatures. The deposited Zn2SnO4 thin films on quartzs substrates were amorphous structures and no distinguishable crystallographic changes were observed with variations of annealing temperatures. The optical transmittance was improved with increasing annealing temperatures and was over 90% in the wavelength region between 350 and 1100 nm at the annealing temperature of 600℃. The optical energy bandgaps, which derived from the absorbance of Zn2SnO4 thin films, were increased from 3.34 eV to 3.43 eV at the annealing temperatures of 450℃ and 600℃, respectively. As the annealing temperature was increased, the electron concentrations were decreased. The electron mobility was decreased and resistivity was increased with increasing annealing temperatures with exception of 450℃. These results indicate that heat treatments at higher annealing temperatures improve the optical and electrical properties of rf-sputtered Zn2SnO4 thin films.

To investigate the influence of heat treatment on the growth intermetallic compounds (IMCs) at the joint interface of friction-welded Cu-Al, several heat treatments are performed at three different temperature with different times. The experiments reveal three different IMCs layers which are significantly influenced by atomic diffusion of Cu and Al with heat treatment conditions. Since the formation of these IMCs layers can affect mechanical properties of friction-welded Cu-Al interfaces, the relationship between the microstructure of IMCs layers and the tensile strength is analyzed according to heat treatment temperature and times.
