양산 단층곡 경주 지역의 단층 지형 분석

Analysis on Fault-Related Landforms in the Gyeongju Area of the Yangsan Fault Valley

This study tries to infer fault lines and produce a map for the lines based on a classification of fault-related landforms and fluvial landforms in the Gyeongju area of the Yangsan Fault Valley. Fault activities in the study area are thought to be older than the time of river formation or stronger than the erosion by river, while the northern and southern parts of the study area seem to have experienced fault activities after valley formation. It is also possible that weaker fault activities than the erosion by river seem to have been prevailed in the parts. In the study area, the Gyeongju alluvial fan is located within a wide erosional valley at the joint area of the Yangsan and Ulsan Faults. From the distribution of the landforms, it is inferred that several fault lines parallel to the Yangsan Fault are distributed at both sides of the fault valley. In particular, the area from Bae-dong to Nogok-ri, Naenam-myeon shows the most obvious linearity of the landforms within the study area. Several fault lines with a direction of NNE-SSW are also found around the epicenter of the 2016 Gyeongju Earthquake.

The characteristics and burial ages of sand sediments on the Jiduri coast in Daechung-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon were investigated. Daecheong Island is the area where the characteristics of the rocky coast and sand coast are shown. Various studies have been conducted on the Okjukdong sand dune that appears in the north of the island. However, there has been no study on the sandy sedimentary topography of the Jiduri and Moraewul area in the south. The sandy sedimentary terrain of Jiduri is divided into sandy beaches, sand dunes and sand deposits along the slope including climbing dune. Overall, the depth of sandy sediments in Jiduri is not deep. The characteristics of sandy sediments and burial ages were investigated at an elevation of about 23 m above sea level at the back of Jiduli Beach and 46 m above sea level at the ridge line between Jiduri and Moraewol. From the Jiduri coast to the hillside behind, the average grain size decreases and the sorting becomes better as it moves from the intertidal zone to the beach and the foredune. This indicates the selective sand transport by the wind and can be judged by the terrain formed under the current sedimentation environment. The average grain size at the upper part of the section of JD-1 (elevation of about 23m MSL) was 1.6918φ of medium sand. The sorting was 0.4584φ, skewness was -1.0491 and kurtosis was -1.2411, respectively. Particularly, the average particle size of the cross section is somewhat uniform, but the color of the constituent material changes from brown to black. In the case of JD-2 (about 46 m MSL), the mean grain size of the section was 1.7943φ, the sorting was 0.4931, the skewness was -1.1163, and the kurtosis was 1.2133. On the other hand, the brown and black layers of JD-1 exhibited a burial age of 0.1 ± 0.0 ka and the JD-2 had a burial age of 0.7 ± 0.0 ka.

This study investigated the characteristics of sedimentary environment changes across a tidal flat in Gagyeongju of Anmyeondo Island. We performed a spatio-temporal analysis on the grain sizes composition of sediments and micro-landform changes during the winter from 2013 to 2016. The results showed that erosion was a dominant process throughout the study flat, reducing the surface elevation even by 1 m around the upper sand flat. As a consequence, headlands have formed in the entire region of Gagyeongju village. In addition, erosion quickly progressed along the low-lying subtidal zone and tide way and, in contrast, sedimentation progressed in the mid-elevation tidal flat. We posit that a jetty, which had been constructed as a pier facility on the eastern part of the study area, interfered with the flow of tidal current, thereby enhancing these erosional processes. This is because such interference can block the supply of fine-textured sediments from the nearby Cheonsu Bay and therefore reduce surface elevation. According to the surface sediment analysis, the sediments were categorized into 7 sedimentary facies, and generally displayed a high ratio of silt and clay. The result of time-series analysis (2012-2013) showed that the sediments on the tidal flat became fine-grained, and that sorting became worse. However, the sediments on the subtidal zone, embayment and along inside of the jetty tended to be coarse-grained. In conclusion, the tidal flat micro-landform change in the study area was caused by a disruption in the seawater circulation due to the jittery construction within the tidal flat, which had a direct effect on erosional and sedimentary environment processes.

Frost shattering has traditionally been considered as one of the most effective process in rock weathering. Each slab specimens of five or six rhyolite, basalt and tuff was prepared and put in freeze-thaw cycles and repeated 300 times in the temperature of -25℃ to +30℃ and their weathering patterns and products were analyzed by surface observation, particle size, XRD and thin section. As the result, some changes were observed in weathering patterns and weathering products. Rock shattering was more active in waterlogging rather than atmospheric conditions, but there are many differences depending on the type of rock. Rhyolite is hardly weathered by 300 times freeze-thaw cycles and generates the least amount of weathering products. Weathering of Basalt is limited to the surface layer where water can be absorbed, and produces a few amount of platy-shape debris. Tuff are separated by blocky structure which the particles are aggregated along their edges rather than enlarged existing cracks/joins or generated new joints.

This study used aerial and terrestrial images to build a three-dimensional model of cliffs located in Pado beach using SfM (Structure from Motion) techniques. Using both images, the study purposed to reduce the shadow areas that were found when using only aerial images. Accuracy of the two campaigns was assessed by root mean square error, and monitored by M3C2 (Multiscale Model to Model Cloud Comparison) method. The result of the M3C2 in closed areas such as sea cave and notch did not express the landforms partly. However, eroded debris on sea cliffs were detected as eroded area by M3C2, as well as in captured pictures by multi-camera. The result of this study showed the applicability of multi-camera and SfM in monitoring changes of sea cliffs.

Taean Haebyeongil is a coastal walkway designed by Taeanhaean National Park Office. This study is to present a geotourism program using Taean Haebyeongil course 6, 7 and to introduce explanation boards to promote an effective geotourism program of the Taeanhaean National Park. Generally, geotourism program is developed by analyzing geomorphic and cultural resources of the Taean Haebyeongil course 6, 7. As a result of this study, authors suggest the following programs. In course 6(Saetbyeol-gil) from Byeongsul bay to north of Saetbyeol beach, experiencing fishing-village culture in the Byeongsul bay village may be a key geo-activity. In course 7(Baram-gil) is from south of Janggok beach to Baramarae beach, visiting Gonam Shell Mound Museum. This study is to suggest a new method of explaining geological features and cultural resources to visitors of the Taeanhaean National Park. Authors wish this new program will boost tourism of Taean Haebyeongil.

Low-frequency geological natural disaster events such as Pohang earthquake have been occurred. As a results, there's a growing recognition on the importance of education and training for low frequency geological disasters in Korea. In spite of many years of scientific researches on volcanic disaster prevention and preparedness on Baekdusan volcano, the results do not provide the proper scenario for the training for volcanic ash event. Fall 3D volcanic ash diffusion model was run based on wind field data for the last five year, assuming Aso Mountain's explosion with volcanic explosion index 5 for seventy two hours. The management criteria values for proper actions in the previous studies were applied to make a scenario for thirteen groups of the disaster response teams such as train transportation, water supply, electrical facilities and human health. The models on the relationship between education and training for disaster prevention and response were suggested to fulfill the scientific and practical training at local level.
