In this study, a plant ecology field trip program using 3D panorama virtual reality(PVR) technique was developed and applied. This program was developed to enable students with field trips related to the plant in the virtual space. It can be a great way as an alternative learning method to reduce and solve the time and cost aspects, student safety problems that can occur when promoting plant ecological learning. The lack of science textbooks on ecological aspects of plants can be compensated through this program. As a result of investigating the learner’s perception of this program, it showed high satisfaction in terms of class effect, class interest, and class participation. Research on the elaborate production method and design of learning programs using 3D panorama virtual reality technique should be continuously conducted.

12015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 과학 교과서의 탐구 활동에 나타난 과학과 교과역량 분석

The purpose of this study was to analyze the key competencies of science subject in inquiry activities of elementary science textbooks based of 2015 revised national curriculum. They were examined to be presented in inquiry activities in elementary science textbooks according to grade and five areas such as material, movement and life, movement and energy earth and space, integration. Scientific inquiry ability and scientific thinking ability among science subject competencies were more emphasized than others in totally elementary science textbooks. As the grade level increases, the proportion of scientific inquiry ability in inquiry activities decreases slightly and that of scientific thinking ability increase. Regardless of grades and areas, scientific inquiry ability was the highest portion than other science subject competencies, but scientific thinking ability was the highest portion than others in material, life and integration areas of the 6th grade textbooks. It is necessary to explore ways to improve more evenly subject competencies reflected for elementary school students in science classes.

This study aims to analyze relations among 3 kinds of latent variables, attitude toward biology laboratory activities, environmental aversion and biology teaching anxiety in 155 elementary pre-service teachers. Thus, this study conducted structural equation modeling based on descriptive statistics, satisfaction of normal distribution conditions and correlation analysis. It was found that the three kinds of latent variables all met normal distribution conditions. Besides, statistically significant correlations were found among measurement variables of each latent variable. The research model was established based on the structural equation analysis results, showing that the more positive attitude they had toward biology laboratory activities, the more positive effect it had on environmental aversion, and attitude toward biology laboratory activities had indirect effect, rathe than direct effect, on biology teaching anxiety through environmental aversion as a mediator. The goodness-of-fit of this model was confirmed through goodness-of-fit indices, such as RMSEA, TLI and CFI, variance estimates and path coefficients. Overall, this study found it important to make positive changes in biology laboratory activities and reduce environmental aversion so that the level of biology teaching anxiety can be maintained low.

The purpose of this study is to examine the articulation of stimulus and reaction unit concepts with the revision of the curriculum. For the 7th curriculum, the 2009 revised curriculum, and the 2015 revised curriculum, the conceptual network of the stimulus and reaction unit, the vertical articulation, and the degree of articulation between the curriculum and the textbook were analyzed. The research results are as follows. First, the stimulus and reaction unit was well articulated with the concept of curriculum and textbook. The core contents and main contents of the unit were fully revealed only by the concept articulated with the concept of the curriculum achievement standard. In particular, the 2015 revised curriculum systematically showed the core contents of the unit as the number of textbook concepts associated with the curriculum decreased. Second, in the stimulus and reaction unit, the vertical articulation between contents of elementary, middle and high school was relatively well done. The curriculum revision did not change much. Third, the stimulus and reaction unit needs to be reduced in concept. In the case of middle and high schools, the top 30% concept alone showed the main contents. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the concept of textbooks centering on the articulated concept of curriculum.

Virtual Reality (VR) has been applied to the educational fields as an effective visual material to evoke attention of the students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern of visual attention based on how language information is presented when students are learning using VR content. Visual attention as measured using eye tracking and twenty-three junior high school students were participated in this study. It has been showed a higher value of fixation number and attention switching value when the text type as language information was presented in life science VR contents. In addition, the average fixation duration was increased when the narration type of language information was used for life science VR contents. Based on the results, the type of language information in life science VR contents can be confirmed to evoke learner's visual attention, such as selective attention, attention switching, and sustained attention. In Addition, this study may presumably provide the design of language presentation type utilizing VR contents in life science education.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the aspects of inquiry tendency, scientific attitude, inquiry method, utilization of biological history, and connection of real life in high school biology textbooks of South and North Korea. The exploration tendency of biological textbooks was analyzed according to Romey's analysis of textbook texts, visuals, questions, discussions, and experimental activities. Other characteristics were analyzed qualitatively based on the texts presented. The research results are as follows. South Korea's life science 1 textbooks and North Korea's higherlevel middle school 1 biology textbook showed almost similar inquiry trends, but South Korea's life science 1 textbooks showed a higher inquiry-oriented tendency in terms of sentences, visuals, and questions. However, compared to the textbooks in South Korea, North Korea's higher-level middle school 1 biology textbook specifically suggested the nature of life sciences, the relationship between knowledge, and the application of life. Also, life science 1 textbooks in South Korea tend not to distinguish between inductive and hypothetical deductive inquiry, whereas higher-level middle school 1 biology in North Korea provide some examples of inductive and hypothetical deductive inquiry and present them separately for each unit. The degree of use of biologists has provided many cases in which the biological textbooks of North Korea are much more diverse and richer than the life science textbooks of South Korea. In addition, the degree of linkage with real life tended to give examples more frequently in North Korean biological textbook than in South Korean life science textbooks. In reference to this study, it is necessary to reinforce what is related to the nature of science in the development of life science 1 textbooks in South Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the reading processes of students who are in elementary school 4th grade, learning science digital textbook based on eye movement. The participants were divided into upper and lower group based on result of pre and post-test. The students confirmed their understanding of the tasks after they completed all the tasks, they have performed on preliminary and four main tasks. The task performance of eye movements were observed by mobil eye-tracker and the collected data based on participants' observation time, eye fixation frequency and gaze movement. The main results are as follows. First, Students pay more attention to digital contents than to fixed contents in digital textbooks. It means when students get interested by manipulating themselves with digital contents and learn new information when they read digital textbooks. Second, upper group students can have better attention regardless of the type of learning contents and they also learn to link information with meaning. However, lower group students have less focus on fixed text and highly interactive contents. It means, even a digital contents with mixture of text, voice, and illustrations shows lower attention when they spend lots of time to learn. Lastly, upper group students tended to watch the illustrations and title of it, that shows when students read digital textbooks, they handling language and visual information with a complementary attitude. However, lower group students focused on specific visual information among the elements of digital textbooks and switch over their eyes into other subjects.

This study examined the effects of PCK based nature of science program for preservice science teachers within the context of scientific inquiry experiments. The PCK based NOS program consists of three stages: Leaning NOS within scientific inquiry experiment, teaching NOS within scientific inquiry experiment and reflection on their NOS instruction though adopting NOS PCK elements, such as NOS misconception, NOS teaching orientation, and instructional strategy. The preservice science teachers learned what NOS is, and how to teach NOS within context of scientific inquiry experiments by experiencing simulated teaching. Then they reflected on their teaching experiences focusing on how they implemented NOS teaching. The study results indicated that these preservice teachers most mentioned 'hypothesis and prediction', while least mentioned 'science & certainty' and 'diversity of scientific thinking' as an instructional objective. During the simulated teaching, the preservice science teachers selected NOS objectives related to scientific inquiry experiments, and developed and implemented NOS instructional strategy using the context of scientific inquiry experiment. These students represented the difficulty to teach 'creativity' within scientific inquiry experiment context. This study suggests that experiencing scientific inquiry experiments, connecting NOS themes to each experiment, and having NOS teaching experience within scientific inquiry experiment are valuable for preservice science teachers to develop NOS PCK and further teach NOS their science classes.

The purpose of this study was to develop environmental education program using environmental fairy tales and to apply it to 21 lower grades of elementary school students to find out the effect on environmental conser-vation knowledge and environmental sensitivity. The con-tents of the program consists of air pollution, water pollution, soil pollu-tion and garbage problems, and the lessons were designed using environmental fairy tales suitable for each subject. The results of this study were as follows. First, the environmental education program using environmental fairy tales was effective in promoting the environmental conservation knowledge of elementary lower grade students. Students became familiar with the environmental conservation including the concept of global warming and carbon footprint, the causes of water pollution, the purification of water, and the separate collection and recycling of waste. Second, the environmental education program using environmental fairy tales was effective in cultivating the environmental sensitivity of elementary lower grade students. They felt sadness, sympathy, and compassion as they watched severe pollution of water, air and soil and diseased animals and plants. As mentioned above, environmental education program using environmental fairy tale is effective in promoting environmental conservation knowledge of elementary lower grade students, contributing to cultivation of environmental sensitivity.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the horizontal and vertical articulation of animal-related concepts according to revision of the curriculum. In the 7th curriculum, the 2009 revised curriculum, and the 2015 revised curriculum, we examined the horizontal articulation among animals and energy, stimulus and reaction, reproduction and development units in curriculum achievement standards and textbooks. We examined the vertical articulation among elementary, middle, and high schools. The research results are as follows. First, as the curriculum was revised, there was a lack of the horizontal articulation of animal-related concepts between the three units in the curriculum and textboks. In order to achieve horizontal articulation, it is necessary to present concepts articulated to the curriculum. Second, as the curriculum was revised, the vertical articulation of animal-related concepts between elementary, middle, and high school was relatively good in the sections of animals and energy, stimulus and reaction. Third, the concepts of reproduction and development unit did not have many concepts that are horizontally articulated to other units, and the vertical articulation between elementary and middle and high schools was not well established. This is thought to be because the 'reproduction and development unit'has been reduced mainly by cell division due to the reduction in the amount of learning in the 2009 and 2015 revised curriculum.
