1'수용(reception)' 범주의 구성과 특징 -해외 현지 초·중등학교 한국어 교육과정을 중심으로-

A Korean language curriculum for local primary, middle, and secondary schools abroad needs be developed with regard to its consistency with the local foreign languages curricula, and also the distinct characteristics of Korean education targeted at teenagers. The content structure and skills of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment) applied by the Korean Language Curriculum differs greatly with the 'Standard Curriculum for Korean Language'. CEFR defines four large categories, i.e. communicative language activities and strategies, plurilingual and pluricultural competence, communicative language competences, and signing competences. This paper examines defining the concept of reception categories and their characteristics with concentration on 'reception' as one of the subcategories of the CEFR's communicative language activities and strategies used by the Korean Language Curriculum. The CEFR's definition of the concept of 'reception' is different from the concept of language skills of 'listening' and 'reading' used by the 'Standard Curriculum for Korean Language'. The concept of 'reception' used in the CEFR has no dichotomy of 'listening' and 'reading', but it rather describes detailed activities, such as oral comprehension activities, reading comprehension activities, and audio-visual comprehension activities, all of which comprise reception activities. In the development of the Korean Language Curriculum, we used the CEFR's concept of reception categories to prepare can-do statements. In addition, we also constructed can-do statements that consider teenagers being the agent of learning using content appropriate for their level. The prominent characteristics of these reception categories are not only understanding as a member of a live audience, understanding announcements and instructions, and understanding audio media and recording, but also understanding conversation between other people that is formed using oral comprehension activities. In order to promote the Korean language education, it is necessary to develop a Korean language curriculum that is suitable for the curriculum system of each overseas country and to consider the needs of overseas learners. High-quality Korean language education can be provided for abroad middle and secondary school learners when a systematic curriculum is established. In addition, customized curriculum and textbooks can be developed in line with the effective foreign language education policy. The purpose of this study is to show the features and structure of the production category that makes up a part of the Korean language curriculum for abroad middle and secondary school learners. In order to achieve this purpose, first of all, we will look at the Korean language curriculum for abroad middle and secondary schools. In the following, communicative language activities which are reception, production, interaction and mediation and their strategies will be generally introduced. Then, we will discuss a production category. More precisely, the definition and features of production and the structure and contents of production will be discussed in detail. This study aims to discuss the establishment rationale and utilization of “mediation,” which is the sub-domain of the curriculum, in < The Curriculum of Korean as a Foreign Language for Primary and Secondary Schools Overseas (2021) >. To this end, we first extended the concept of “mediation” from a limited concept of linguistic activity that helps third-party communication as direct communication is not possible in “relational mediation” that establishes and manages interpersonal relationships and a “cognitive mediation” that enables access to knowledge and concepts. By expanding the concept of mediation in this way, mediation was divided into mediation activities and mediation strategies to examine each subtype and concept. Based on these discussions, the rationale for introducing the domain of mediation in Korean language education was the need to promote communication between Korean users and learners' peer groups, attitudes and speech tone, and multimedia utilization in education. And lastly, for the utilization of “mediation” in Korean language education, the necessity of the validation of descriptors, development of teaching/learning materials, and development of evaluation tools such as self-assessment grids was suggested (Seoul National University, Gyeongin National University of Education, Seoul National University, Busan University of Foreign Studies)

This study examines the concept of plurilingual and pluricultural competence presented by the CEFR(2018) and proposes application methods in Korean language education. In Korean language education, learners can improve their competence to target language and culture by understanding that learners have various languages and cultural backgrounds and utilizing such resources and experiences. To this end, the understanding and acceptance of culture can be facilitated by establishing a pluricultural repertoire. The target language can be learned by utilizing various language resources through plurilingual understanding of plurilingualism. Furthermore, by building a plurilingual repertoire, it is possible to take advantage of the language resources that learners have to take the initiative in language learning. By applying this concept, a teaching-learning method can be proposed so that learners can utilize each other's language and cultural resources in professor learning, which used only Korean, the target language in Korean education. The purpose of this study is to introduce the development of sociolinguistic and pragmatic competences of the Korean Curriculum for elementary and secondary schools overseas. The sociolinguistic competences and the Pragmatic Competences which had not been emphasized, were set as one category of language Competences, and developed to reveal the importance of the sociolinguistic and the Pragmatic competences in the curriculum. The sociolinguistic competences refer to the ability to use language properly socially, and the Pragmatic competences refer to the ability to use language, including discourse Competences. The sociolinguistic competences deal with sociolinguistic appropriateness, including politeness, registers, and socio-cultural implications, etc.. The pragmatic competences were composed of flexibility, turn taking, thematic development, coherence and cohesion, and fluency to present the curriculum. Unlike the existing curriculum, this curriculum is meaningful in that it focuses on language use, including the sociolinguistic competences and the pragmatic competences in the curriculum, and presents detailed competence descriptions. In addition, the curriculum will be differentiated in that it has increased applicability in the field by specifically presenting the situation of discourse suitable for Korean learners in elementary and secondary courses abroad and including Korean expressions that can be treated as educational contents. This study examined the authenticity of the listening and activity types of listening tasks in Korean listening for academic purposes. In doing so, it aimed to investigate and analyse the authenticity of the discourse in the listening textbooks and the activity types of listening tasks for academic Korean learners. Through analysis and reflection, I discuss important issues for the future development of listening materials. The results of the analysis confirm the progress of the textbooks. However, it is necessary to diversify the genres of the discourse, which were recorded using various media. I also discuss the broadening of the scope for more practical listening. Regarding the listening task activities in the textbooks, I found that the tasks were biased toward literal comprehension listening, intensive listening and selective listening. Therefore, I suggest that the inferential listening tasks and interactive listening activities should be further reflected in the textbooks. (Seoul National University)

T+his study aims to examine learners' perceptions through fluency evaluations among learners in academic-purpose Korean debating classes. For that, the discussion of 31 advanced learners was conducted fluency evaluations by fellow learners, and the debaters' utterances were transcribed and analyzed. The analysis results are as follows. First, regression analysis of factors that determine a debater's fluency shows that the variable that most influences the debater's fluency judgment is the frequency of use of the argument, and the proportion of non-fluent utterances is somewhat less influential than the frequency of use of the argument. Second, fellow learners judged debaters with low rates of non-fluent utterances to be linguistically fluent. This is different from previous research results that native language speakers judge foreign learners' speaking fluency by their speaking speed. Third, the factor that influenced the debater's judgment of content fluency was the frequency of use of the argument. Learners tend to perceive debaters who use arguments highly as fluent debaters. Fluent discussion speaking requires training for learners' ability to construct arguments, as in conventional discussions, and also involves speaking practice to reduce non-fluent speech. This study is valuable as a learner-focused study in that debating classes are paramount, and is significant in that they have discussed learners' fluency in a different direction from the study of learners' fluency judgments from the native language speaker's perspective. The purpose of this study is to examine the Korean language education curriculum for foreigners in North Korea. We focused on interviews with Chinese international students who participated in the 'Chosun Exchange Scholarship Program' from April to October 2016 at Kim Il-sung University. To this end, two written interviews and three in-depth interviews were conducted to secure the validity and reliability of the study. Through interviews, it was found that in 2016, a total of 35 foreigners received Korean language education at Kim Il-sung University. In addition, it was found that the Korean language education curriculum for foreigners in North Korea is divided into 'Korean language education as a foreign language' and 'general Korean language education'. Compared to the Korean language curriculum as a foreign language, it was found that the general Korean language education curriculum had about two hours more class time per week and the number of subjects was also four more. Also, the textbooks used in the general Korean language education curriculum were different from the textbooks in the Korean language curriculum as a foreign language. However, the observation activities were carried out in the same way as the Korean language curriculum as a foreign language, and through this, the system propaganda effect was being promoted. Lectures were mainly centered on teachers, and achievement evaluation was conducted once at the end of the term. The interviewer evaluated that this experience in North Korea had a positive influence on interviewer's career choice. (Yonsei University)

This study was intended to examine the educational utility and utilization of new media in the digital environment, paying attention to the popular culture production and communication methods of < Mr. Sunshine >.
According to this goal, linguistic informatics as a quantitative study and text interpretative method as a qualitative study were applied to verify the educational utility of < Mr. Sunshine > as a media text and to present a specific classroom teaching model based on this data.
The Korean value culture education plan considering the learner characteristics of Koreans, foreigners, and overseas Koreans was constructed as a class model and data. This can be seen that there is a continuous need for research on ways to present interpretation and critique of media content in the field of teaching and learning and to use it educationally. This paper tries to get the foreign students studying at Korean universities to understand Korean 'Han(恨)' effectively for the intercultural sympathy and communication. The emotion of Korean Han is very important cultural element which is necessary to understand Korean. This paper selects the Korean series of novel (『남도사람』) that show the singularity of Korean Han. It also intends to make foreign students read the novel, write the book report, and have discussions of Han with other students. In the reading process, foreign students try to understand the novel's theme, plot, and conflict of characters. In the writing process, they try to understand deeply the characteristics of Han in the course of presenting their idea and feeling about events of the novel. Especially in the discussion process, they can modify and make up for their former cognition and feeling about Han through feedback process. It is said that foreign students are able to make sense that Korean Han is the emotion of the anger, resentment, sorrow, as well as forgiveness, sublimation generating from the harmony with nature in this paper.
