Objective: The present study aims to examine the moderating effects of dyadic coping on the association between COVID-19-related stress and subjective well-being. Methods: Data were collected in the middle of intensive social distancing regulation (April 2020) by an online survey. The sample was 540 adults who were married and lived with an intimate partner, and their ages were 27-68. The independent variable was stress in the COVID-19 situation, and the dependent variable was subjective well-being. The moderating variables were emotion- focused dyadic coping and problem-focused dyadic coping. Two regression models (emotion-focused dyadic coping model and problem-focused dyadic coping model) were analyzed using SPSS with PROCESS MACRO, respectively. Results: Emotion-focused dyadic coping had a moderating effect on the association between stress and subjective well-being. However, problem-focused dyadic coping did not have a moderating effect but a direct positive effect on subjective well-being. Conclusions: The study implied that emotional support within couple relationships had a buffering effect on the negative influence of stress in COVID-19 situations. Also, cooperative trying within relationships to solve problems enhanced subjective well-being among married individuals.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the nature of the experience of adolescent unmarried mothers. Methods: For this purpose, we interviewed seven adolescent unmarried mothers and analyzed the collected data using the psychological phenomenological method. Results: As a result, three categories, nine topics, and twenty-seven meaning units emerged. The three theme categories are as follows: (1) the crisis and change of pregnancy and childbirth, (2) use of social support networks, and (3) career development in adulthood that has entered unexpectedly. This study suggests that the meaning of parenthood for adolescent unmarried mothers is derived by examining the difficulties experienced in rearing their children and the process of overcoming difficulties. Conclusions: The results of this study provide academic data for the development of intervention programs for adolescent unmarried mothers.

Objective: The study examines the impact of parental abuse and cyber-violence on adolescents' human rights and verifies the mediating effects of stress. Methods: This study utilized secondary data from KSYC-Rights and the subjects of this were a total of 7,421 adolescents. For data analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and structural model analysis were conducted. Results: first, parental abuse had an impact on adolescents' consciousness of human rights. Second, cyber-violence had an impact on adolescents' consciousness of human rights. Third, stress plays a mediating role in parental abuse and cyber-violence influencing human rights consciousness. Conclusions: Consequently, this study suggested practical and policy implications to increase adolescents' human rights consciousness.

Objective: This study aimed to verify the validity of the acculturative stress scale for multicultural adolescents. Due to limitations of the existing methodologies, the item response theory was used for verifying the suitability of fit and the level of difficulty of each item and determining the appropriateness of the number of item categories. Methods: A total of 1,224 individuals were analyzed with the 6th wave data from the Multicultural Adolescent Panel Study (MAPS). Results: As a result of analysis, it was found that item difficulty and the person ability were unbalanced. A 4-point Likert scale was appropriate for the acculturative stress scale. In addition, there were the items that distinguished male multicultural adolescents from female ones, and reliability did not meet the criteria. Conclusions: It was found that adjustment of the overall level of difficulty was required for the items in this scale. Therefore, some of the items need to be revised.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among positive parenting, self-esteem, cooperation, peer relationships and the happiness of children. Methods: The research subjects were 2,607 (boys: 1,313 (50.4%), girls: 1,294 (49.6%)) 4th grade children of the KCYPS 2018 panel undertaken by the National Youth Policy Institute. Participants completed self-reporting questionnaires designed to assess positive parenting, self-esteem, cooperation, peer relationships and the happiness of children. Data were analyzed the mediating effect between variables using SPSS Process Macro model 6. Results: First, each self-esteem, cooperation, and peer relationships mediated the relationship between positive parenting and children's happiness. Secondly, the dual mediation effect of self-esteem, cooperation, and peer relationships was significant. Thirdly, there was a sequentially triple meditation effect among self-esteem, cooperation and peer relationship. This means that the more positive the parenting, the more children will have a higher level of self-esteem, which again leads to cooperation, improving peer relationships and increasing happiness. Conclusions: On the basis of the results of this study, implications on case conceptualization and intervention strategy with a focus on positive parenting and the happiness of children and future research are discussed.

Objective: This study examined the identity of Korean-Chinese adolescents with migrant backgrounds living in South Korea. Methods: To achieve this goal, data was collected through in-depth interviews of four Korean-Chinese adolescents with migrant backgrounds and analyzed using a case study research method. Results: The analysis showed that soon after migration, Korean-Chinese adolescents experienced difficulties and conflicts in language, academic and career choices, peer relations. Second, parents, peers, and teachers were included as contextual factors that influence the formation of an adolescent's identity. Third, bilingualism, nationality, and attitude toward their backgrounds emerged as important identity-related issues. Finally, the participants identified themselves as closer to Koreans or Korean-Chinese, and the more they adapted to Korean society, the more they perceived themselves as being closer to Koreans from Korean-Chinese. Conclusions: Based on these findings, practical and policy guidelines to be considered for supporting Korean-Chinese adolescents with migrant backgrounds are proposed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between preschooler temperament, maternal parenting behaviors, preschooler executive function, and peer competence. Methods: A survey was conducted on 378 children aged 3-5 years old and their mothers who were enrolled in 7 daycare centers and kindergartens. The data collected were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program and the AMOS 22.0 program. Results: The main results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the direct influence of preschooler's temperament on peer competence was found to be significant. Second, preschooler's temperament did not significantly affect peer competence through maternal parenting behaviors. Third, a preschooler's temperament was found to have a significant effect on peer competence through a preschooler's executive function. Fourth, preschooler's temperament was found to have a significant effect on peer competence sequentially through maternal parenting behaviors and the preschooler's executive function. Conclusions: It was confirmed that not only maternal parenting behaviors but also a preschooler's executive function play an important role in the relationship between a preschooler's temperament and peer competence.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of parental empathy in the relationship between parent-child communication and school life satisfaction perceived by adolescents in face-to-face and smart-phone communication methods. Methods: The SPSS 25.0 statistical program was used to analyze Pearson's correlation and hierarchical regression among major variables as well as to analyze the PROCESS Macro 3.5 Program Model 4 for 304 middle school students located in D-gu, Seoul. Results: First, a significant correlation between variables was identified in both face-to-face and smart-phone communication methods. Second, in case of the type of parent-child face-to-face and smart-phone communication, parent empathy showed a mediating effect in the relationship of school life satisfaction. Conclusions: In face-to-face and smart-phones communication methods, the study confirmed that parental empathy is an important variable, and in the situation where non-face-to-face situations are increasing, research on parent-child communication and empathy using smart-phones should be continued.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the longitudinal relationships concerning a father's feeling of happiness, a mother's feeling of happiness, and a child's feeling of happiness and self-esteem. Methods: Three years of longitudinal data was collected from the Panel Study on Korean Children. Data analysis was conducted with the autoregressive cross-lagged model, to identify the longitudinal interrelationship among the variables. Results: There was a static correlation among a father's feeling of happiness and a mother's feeling of happiness. Second, a mother's feeling of happiness had a positive effect on a child's feeling of happiness. Third, a mother's feeling of happiness and a child's feeling of self-esteem had a static interaction with each other, and a child's feeling of self-esteem had a positive influence on a father's feeling of cheerfulness and a mother's feeling of contentment. Conclusions: These results suggest that a parent's happiness can have a positive effect on forming a child's happiness and self-esteem, given that a father's cheerfulness and a mother's contentment have a static interrelationship with each other.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of middle-aged one-person households on social relations and economic preparation for retirement. In addition, even within one-person households, I attempted to determine the difference according to whether the cause of the households' composition was separation after marriage or a one-person household without a spouse due to being unmarried, bereavement, or divorce. Conclusions: As a result of the analysis using the data of the 2019 Social Survey of the National Statistical Office, single-person households had weaker economic conditions, social relations, and economic preparation for retirement when compared to multi-person households. One-person households lacked a social network to receive help when they face difficulties compared to multi-person households, but there was no effect on group activities or the satisfaction with human relationships. However, households with no spouse had a negative impact on the social network, group activities, and the satisfaction with human relationships. Middle-aged one-person households and one-person households with no spouse had a negative effect on economic preparation for retirement, when labor activity and asset variables were not considered. However, statistical significance was not found when these variables were considered.

Objective: This study aims to explore the meaning of self-reliance and to review the current self-sufficiency program experienced by single mothers in poverty. Methods: We used qualitative research methods. A face-to-face interview was conducted with six mothers. Four investigators analyzed the transcribed files using the NVivo 13 program. Results: The participants experienced failures in the competition for jobs. In addition, maintaining work was difficult in the process of self-sufficiency participation. Nevertheless, the participants were able to maintain self-sufficiency participation thanks to the social support, and labor market participation helped them to find confidence and to develop the foundation for self-reliance. Conclusions: For single mothers in poverty, work can be a key factor for the self-reliance in terms of making a living and making a life independent. However, job placement without considering individual needs and circumstances, poor job conditions, and insensitive occupational training programs that do not support individual growth were identified as areas for improvement. We discussed suggestions for policy and practice for the self-reliance of single mothers in poverty based on the study findings.

Objective: The purpose of this study provides employment preparation experience of mothers having children with developmental disability. Methods: Eight mothers having children with developmental disabilities living in Seoul and Gyeonggido were selected for an in-depth interview. Data were collected from October to November, 2020. This research utilized Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: The participants provided 14 themes of experience and 5 cluster themes. The final 14 themes were the connection of social, other psychological-emotional domains, helping in social ability development, having presence, difficulty of moving, deficiency of communication, high anxiety, self-management and daily life training, lifetime education, career support system with a focusing school, excellent ability to explain, human rights sensitivity, good temper, federation members and child's school. Conclusions: The study acknowledges the importance of the job, tunnel with fog, needing self-reliance, achieving worthwhile results and depending on persons with the same situation to achieve employment preparation for mothers having children with developmental disabilities.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to verify the mediation effects of traumatized self-system between emotional abuse experiences and anger of college students. Methods: 296 on and offline surveys were distributed to college students who are attending three-and four-year universities in South Korea. The data were analyzed to examine multiple-parallel mediation effects of traumatized self-system using PROCESS macro methods. Results: First, the correlation analysis confirmed that emotional abuse was significantly related to traumatized self-system and anger of college students. Furthermore, traumatized self-system is related to anger. Second, as a result of verifying the effect of multiple-parallel mediation, the study demonstrated that the mediation effects of impairment of Me-self and self-regulation was significant. However, the impairment of I-self and relational self has no mediation effects. Conclusions: This study revealed that the emotional abuse of college students affects anger through the impairment of Me-self and self-regulation. Based on the results, study implications and limitations were discussed.

Objective: This research aims to verify the moderated mediating effect of post-traumatic growth on the relationship between family violence experiences and fear of intimacy through traumatized self-system of university students. Methods: The research subjects were 363 university students (male: 118[32.5%], female: 245[67.5%], M=21.34[SD = 2.23]). The participants completed self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed for moderated mediating effects between variables using PROCESS macro 3.0 model 1, 4, 14 methods. Results: First, the fully mediating effect of traumatized self-system on the process of family violence experiences affected the fear of intimacy. Second, as to the effects of traumatized self-system on fear of intimacy, the adjustment effect was varied according to the level of post-traumatic growth. Third, the moderated mediating effect of post-traumatic growth was verified. Namely, the mediating effect of traumatized self-system was moderated by post-traumatic growth in the relation between family violence experiences and fear of intimacy. Conclusions: The results of this study provide data for the development of intervention programs to improve the intimacy of university students.

Objective: This study considers the parenting stress experience and adaptation process of working moms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An in-depth interview was conducted with 11 participants and the data of the interview was analyzed based on the grounded theory method. An essential topic was derived. Results: First, central phenomenon was 'exhaustion due to excessive sense of responsibility'. Second, the causal conditions of this phenomenon included 'increased infant time and burden', 'situation where only children are neglected', 'situations that is deprived and controlled,' and 'fears of infection'. Third, contextual conditions included 'lack of family help','economic anxiety', and 'social criticism and prejudice'. Fourth, the mediation conditions were 'family support and help', 'conversation with support group'. Fifth, the actions/interaction were 'avoidable coping','individual coping','relational coping', and 'social coping'. Sixth, consequences had 'emotional stability', 'introduction of new adaptation methods', 'sustaining anxiety', and 'sustaining social anger and frustration' Seventh, in process analysis, the stress and process of working moms during the COVID-19 pendemic signify 'the stage of confusion', 'the stage of anger', 'the stage of frustration', 'the stage of negotiation', and 'the stage of adaptation'. Conclusion: The types of analysis were classified as avoidance type, active response type, and relational type. Several suggestions were presented based on the process analysis and the support plan was discussed according to the results derived from the aspect of adaptation.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to increase the possibility of sustainable use of an existing web-based fathering program by applying an evidence-based practice to the dissemination and implementation stage of the program. To this end, we apply hierarchical linear models(HLM). Methods: This study investigated the association between initial scores and change rates of three outcome measures (Satisfaction with Life Scale: SWLS, Parent-Child Relationship Satisfaction Scale: PCRSS, and Parenting Sense of Competence: PSOC) and the influence of three individual characteristic variables (education, family income, and marital satisfaction) that affected the individual differences of change rates in outcome measures that were induced by the program participation. Data from 49 South Korean middle-aged fathers participating in this program were analyzed by HLM. Results: For SWLS, participants showing greater life satisfaction improved significantly more rapidly as sessions progressed. For PSOC, participants showing a lower education improved significantly more rapidly across time. For PCRSS, there was no significant results. Conclusion: The study suggests that it may be beneficial to apply individually differentiated arrangement of contents for each session depending on the father's initial level of satisfaction with life and that the program needs to be promoted more actively to the fathers with a lower education.
